As part of its activities to support the region of Reggio Emilia, the Italian headquarters of the well-known cycling brand supports and supports numerous activities, including the titling of the Granfondo Matildica on 4 June and the branding of the Pista di Avviamento al Ciclismo named after Giannetto Cimurri.

Merida Italy’s activity has always been focused on the promotion of its range of bicycles on the national territory, ranging from road cycling to mountain bikes, including, of course, pedal-assisted bicycles. To this strong commitment must be added the commitment that the company has towards the territory of Reggio Emilia, where the Italian division of the Taiwanese group is based.

In fact, it is the novelty of these days that ASD Cooperatori has entered into an agreement with Merida Italy for the title of the Granfondo Matildica scheduled for Sunday, June 4, 2023. In view of the 51st edition, the event in Reggio nell’Emilia is the stage of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series 2023, the circuit wanted by the International Cycling Union to enclose in a calendar the most representative amateur long-distance competitions.

“We are extremely proud to support the organization of the Granfondo Matildica, which represents an historic event in the Italian calendar of events for enthusiasts and an extraordinary showcase of the landscapes of Emilia – stressed Paolo Fornaciari, the director of Merida Italy – and our activation is part of a plan to support the territory that hosts us”.

In this sense, the historic cycling event in Reggio nell’Emilia will be called Granfondo Matildica Merida 2023. Two tracks: the first of 165.8 kilometers with 2,963 meters of altitude difference and the second of 130 kilometers with 2,038 meters of altitude difference. During the days of Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 June, Merida Italy will also bring to the square a stand with a wide collection of its offer and that will give everyone the opportunity to test the bikes of the renowned brand of Taiwan: from road bikes to gravel bikes, from mountain bikes to electric city bikes.

Merida’s presence also extends to the official jersey of the event that each participant will find in the race pack at the time of the collection of the chest: on the jersey is reported the phrase “Ciao Dario...”, a small tribute dedicated to Dario Acquaroli, marketing manager Merida, recently deceased.

“We are very honored and proud to have Merida Italia at our side, such a great company and leader in the sector – commented Roberto Camorani president of ASD Cooperatori, organizer of the granfondo – For both companies the attachment to the territory and its promotion is very strong. The will of Granfondo Matildica is definitely to assert itself in the international granfondo scene and we are sure that, with the support of Merida, this will be possible".

Merida Italy’s commitment to the territory also extends to the branding of the Cycling Start Track named after Giannetto Cimurri, proposed by his son Giorgio, founder of the agency Impresa e Sport, in memory of Fausto Coppi’s historic friend and masseur. On 27 May 2001, a year before his death, the track was inaugurated in Reggio Emilia in the Campovolo area, one of the first in Italy to welcome the champions of two wheels to train safely.
