To guarantee an experience that goes beyond mere competition, the Granfondo Matildica Merida 2023 in collaboration with Club di Prodotto Reggio Tricolore - Itinere organised guided weekend tours of the city and the local dairies.

Saturday 26 August:
15.30 - 17.00 Guided tour of the historic centre of Reggio Emilia with a certified tour guide in Italian

A walk to discover the heart of the city where, in 1797, the Tricolore was born - destined to become the Italian flag. The guided tour will wind through the streets and squares of the historic center to discover the places and curiosities of Reggio Emilia, known today also for its gastronomy, hard work, quality of life and, internationally, for the best kindergartens in the world.

17.30 - 19.00 Guided tour of the historic center of Reggio Emilia with an English speaking tour guide

A stroll to discover the heart of the town where in 1797 the Tricolor Flag, the future Italian flag, was first adopted. The guided tour will pass through the streets and squares of the town center to discover places and curiosities of Reggio Emilia nowadays also famous for its food, industriousness, quality of life and, internationally, for the best kindergartens in the world.

Sunday 27 August:
8.00 - 11.30 Guided tour of a cheese factory in the province of Reggio Emilia with final tasting of the product (in Italian, in English on request).

Parmigiano-Reggiano, one of the oldest cheeses known, is produced today as it was eight centuries ago with the same ingredients, the same technique and the same artisanal care.
It is the “casaro” who with his hands, sensibility and experience creates the “form”. You can visit the farm, watch the processing process, let yourself be enchanted by the shapes that mature in the warehouse... and of course taste the King of Cheeses visiting one of the typical local producers.

PRICE GUIDED TOUR: € 20,00 per person VAT included
The fee includes: guided visit to a cheese factory; tasting of Parmigiano Reggiano in different maturation.
The fee does not include: transfer*; overnight stay; insurance; everything not indicated under the heading “Fee includes”.
*Shuttle service can be requested at an additional cost.

- Overnight stay in a double room (or twin room with separate beds) with breakfast included in a 3 or 4 star hotel (bicycle storage or possibility for the athlete to bring the bike to the room, breakfast basket available from 05.00 AM on race day and bookable at check-in, late check-out until 14.30 on race day)
- 1 place for a visit and tasting in a cheese factory in Parmigiano Reggiano (Sunday 27 August)
